After her success in modeling, dancing and acting, she began to study acting. Mitchell landed some commercials as well as guest roles in TV series. The break came, however, when she performed Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. Fans and critics lauded her acting skills. Her mother, a Filipina is her maternal grandmother. And her father is Irish as well as Scottish. Mitchell has also been identified as the cousin to Lea Salonga - a famous musical theatre actress and singer. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary School before moving on to West Vancouver Secondary. In her late teen years she been employed by various modeling firms all over the world. After a trip across the globe to Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she returned to Toronto and studied acting.
